Arlen Specter and the Half Blood Republican

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

J. K. Rowling writes fiction, but Arlen Specter is giving her a run for her money! Listen to this...
"As the Republican Party has moved farther and farther to the right, I have found myself increasingly at odds with the Republican philosophy and more in line with the philosophy of the Democratic Party." -Arlen Specter

Let's examine this with just the tiniest bit of a critical eye! The Republican party of George Bush that Specter was happy to be in and accept help from, has shifted right to be the party of...John McCain??? I don't think so!
McCain is a moderate, not a conservative. If anything, the Republican party, as a whole, has been shifting to the middle, not the right.

If this fairy tale that Specter is telling is in hopes of keeping his fanny in his Senate seat, I suspect that Arlen Specter is not going to live happily ever after!

  1. This cynical, self-serving move had absolutely nothing to do with values, policy, or any high-minded thinking of any kind- though President Obama surely would like for you to think that.

Everybody knows he did it because he was down 21% in the polls leading-up to the GOP primary for his seat- and Joey Pluggs made a deal with him, he already admitted as such. The sad truth is that this hack has spent three decades in the Senate, while accomplishing little.

And Barack and him have a lot in common- as unprincipled political opportunists, I’m sure they’ll get along just great.

Just a little over a month ago, the Senator said in an interview that he wouldn’t switch parties due to the importance of checks and balances.

And back in 2001, Sen. Arlen Specter, then a Republican, proposed a rule forbidding party switches… he was upset when Vt Sen. Jim Jeffords’ left the GOP to become an independent.

Who knows what the truth is with this guy, you’ll never get it from him.

With all due respect, Senator- don’t let the door hit your butt on the way out. Nobody on our side’s going to miss you.

  2. A picture of Specter is all that's required to define "RINO" in dictionaries. The guy was a democrat prior to running for office. The only reason he ran for office as a republican is that the democrats in his district already had a candidate. His only option was to run as a republican.

His switching parties will have minimal impact on the balance of power in the senate, as the dems already had his vote in the bag.

Now if Franken wins the court battle in Mn, which I think is inevitable, there will be an impact on the senatorial balance. Which will lead to most of us taking our daily enema of socialism and like it or else.
